FAQs

What is a full lace wig?
A full lace wig is capable of being parted anywhere on the scalp. They are particularly appropriate for all hairstyles including wearing the hair back because they create the appearance of a completely natural hairline.

What are the different types of lace?
The various types of cap bases for lace wigs include - French Lace wigs, Swiss Lace wigs, French Lace wigs+ Ear to Ear Stretch. French Lace is a strong material used at the front edge of a lace wig in combination with bleached knots to give an extremely undetectable look. The knots are not hidden by lace, but using lighter knots creates the illusion of growing hair. French lace is less fragile than Swiss lace and with care your lace wig could last a long time. Swiss Lace wigs are more fragile than French lace wigs but strong enough if handled carefully. It is the most undetectable lace wig but also very delicate. Swiss lace wigs need to be handled with care and is not recommended for first time users to lace front wigs. French Lace wigs + Ear To Ear Stretch is a French lace wig with an elastic material constructed within the lace wigs for maximum durability and elasticity. This will allow a client to pull back the lace wig in a high ponytail while offering an adjustable "perfect" fit.

Which is better, French lace wigs or Swiss lace wigs?
It really is a matter of preference. Swiss lace wigs are finer, and more fragile, than French lace wigs, and blends better with the skin for a less visible appearance. French lace wigs are slightly thicker, stretchable and very durable. We generally recommend that first time buyers go with French lace wigs if you can because they are inexperienced at lace wig application and removal and are more likely to damage a lace wig cap made of Swiss lace. With experience applying and removing lace wigs, you may feel more comfortable with Swiss lace wigs. Both lace wigs can be tinted different shades of brown to blend with a variety of complexions.
What is Virgin Hair (Cuticle Hair)?
Virgin Hair is truly superior human hair collected directly from a single donor. Sewn in the same direction hair naturally grows. This is hair in its virgin condition It has an extraordinary silky and soft quality since it has never been exposed to harsh chemical treatments. This Virgin hair is processed to ensure all the cuticle layers are facing in the same direction from root to end, and therefore does not tangle. This ensures the hair behaves exactly like your own hair, blending in superbly and looking perfectly natural. The cuticle layer of the hair remains intact and protects the hair from harsh environmental conditions, which keeps the hair shiny and resilient to damage. The result is a superior hair lace wig that colors beautifully- it has the highlights and natural shading just like your own hair. Virgin hair is soft to touch and retains its vitality and elasticity, so the hair will never matt and always looks healthy and full of luster.
What are Hair knots (Single, Double & Bleached Knots)?
There are four kinds of knots used at A-List lace hair lace wigs including Single Knots, Double Knots and Bleached Knots. Single Knots are considered the best method of knotting producing a tiny knot for each individual hand-tied hair. Two or three individual hairs can be single knotted to the lace wig at one time speeding up the process. It's hard to detect, but easy to shed. Double Knots literally involve knotting lace wig hair twice to produce a double knot which provides a stronger, more robust knot. The resultant knots are however slightly more visible under close inspection. It's easy to detect, but not easy to shed. Bleached Knots is just meant to make the lace wig knots less detectable. They won't be clear or totally invisible. The bleached hair will help to hide the lace wig knots and is a method of making the hair appear as if it is growing from the scalp. It gives a realistic view effect if the original hair color is black.

What does Density mean?
Hair density is simply how many hairs are added to your lace wig hair system base. In earlier years, high density was necessary because the base materials were usually made of thicker materials and would be easily exposed if hair density were low. More recently, with the advance of thinner base materials such as lace and thin skin, low density tends to look more natural especially with the see through look along the hairlines. You can chose different lace wig hair density in different areas of the lace wig base. A List lace hair generally recommends light density at the lace wig hairline and crown gradually increasing to medium density then medium density throughout the lace wig (blended well). Most of our lace wigs are made with Medium Density (130%). The lace wigs can also be made with high density. A List lace hair has six kinds of hair density below: Light to Medium lace wigs (130%) Medium to Heavy Lace Wigs (150%) High Thick Lace Wigs(180%)

Grooming and Maintenance
Grooming is best carried out using a wide tooth comb. These styling tools are gentle on the hair causing less pressure on the lace wig hair knots, reducing shedding. When encountering tangling, detangle hair gently, avoiding abrasive brushing. Correct product usage will prolong the lace wigs life with color protection products and regular deep conditioning essential. Most importantly, low chemical, color protection shampoos should be used to keep color leakage and dryness to a minimum. The detergent chemicals held by many shampoos will further damage hair that is already very porous. The application of a natural oil treatment is recommended with a suitable anti-oxidant and UV protector to protect the hair from long-term damage. This will help prevent dryness and maintain a healthy appearance.

How do I maintain my lace wig so that I can minimize shedding and tangling?
All Lace Wigs, regardless of the vendor will lose hair. Shedding is caused my excessive combing or brushing. To minimize the hair loss, use a knot sealer after every 1-2 shampoos. Also, follow our instructions on how to shampoo your lace wig for the best results. It is recommended for each lace wig wearer to have two lace wigs, in the event one lace wig needs to be repaired.

Do I have to wear makeup to hide the lace?
No, the lace wig will be cut back to the hairline and it will be attached to your scalp so that it appears as if it is growing out of your scalp. You can put make up in the parting of your unit in order to pronounce the parting.
